Recycling a polyethylene coated leather settee that is peeling. Having fun breathing new life into this sorry piece of furniture. This is an ongoing project in which I am painting two couches that are right in the middle of our gallery at Hilltop Art House.
For many years I have been interested in referencing the marks left behind as a result of normal everyday activity. This often involves drawing around or alongside the unintentional marks, stains, creases or wear and tear created in the course of normal activity. Highlighting them by drawing lines around or alongside them as shown below.
This project took place over a three month period in which all the marks and detritus left behind after the evening meals were ‘marked in’. These marks slowly built up over time creating this rather interesting design.
